Students presentation Şcoala Gimnazială Nistoreşti (30.05.2018)
13 Jun 2018

What is biodiversity? What is a protected natural area? Where is the site Şindriliţa located and why is it important? The students of Şcoala Gimnazială Nistoreşti received answers to these questions during the first information meeting organized within the educational program of the project. Focusing on the theme of protecting biodiversity from the site Şindriliţa, the presentation was interactive and led to the engagement in discussions of all 20 participants, in grades 6-8.

The children learned the meaning of terms such as biodiversity, protected natural area, species and habitat, while understanding that they themselves are part of the biological diversity which they are obliged to protect in order to maintain a balanced environment. Some of them mentioned that they have seen various animal species, including bears, wolves or tritons, near or inside the forest close to the village. The team used this opportunity to help students become aware of the need to keep their distance from wild animals and not to damage their natural habitat, in order to conserve species and their living environment.

The presentation that was held in school helped students realize the natural value of the site Sindriliţa, the importance of implementing the project and the need to adopt a friendly behavior towards nature overall. The children received support materials specially prepared for them (leaflets presenting the project and the site Sindriliţa, as well as personalized backpacks and caps) and told the team they would definitely get involved in future environmental education activities organized in their school.
